Ways with washi tape • Washi tape is a high-quality masking tape made from natural fibres such as bamboo, hemp, rice, wheat or from the bark of native Japanese trees. But more than that, washi tape is a material which is beautiful yet useful at the same time. You can tear it, stick it, reposition it and write on it. The low-tack adhesive makes it extremely easy to use and re-use. I think it’s so popular because of its versatility – and it looks great too!

Scrapbooking BeCause • We all love to support a good cause. Whether it’s through financially helping a charity or event, scrapbooking for personal reasons or contributing to challenges. The scrapbooking community as a whole is generous in their creative pursuits, by giving up time and/or money to help those less fortunate.

Love Your Sister: One year on • Twelve months ago I covered the heart-warming story of Love Your Sister and all the amazing feats Connie and Samuel Johnson had been up to on their quest to raise awareness and money for breast cancer research. A year later, Connie and Sam have reached their goals and now are planning so much more for their little charity that could.

Journal with X Press It ! • X-Press It has just brought out two new journals – a blending journal, perfect to use with Copic markers, and a mixed-media journal to create with any medium you can think of! Beck Beattie and Cathy Cafun had a play to show you just how great these journals are.

Click and cropGO BIG WITH PHOTO BACKGROUNDS • Do you have a photo for which you can’t find the right background paper to complement it? Perhaps you have a special photo and want to make it the focus? Why not go BIG and blow up your photo to become your background paper. It is such a simple and fast way to make a statement layout.

A remembrance • In last year’s pink issue, I wrote a personal welcome letter in regards to my family’s experience with breast cancer, and it prompted Lizzy Hill to write in and say she was inspired to scrap about her aunt who died of breast cancer. This is her remembrance of her aunt – I hope it encourages you to do something similar.

Scrapping without kids • I often read that many women took up scrapbooking when their children were born, so they could document their first milestones and create a keepsake for them to cherish and look back on. However, there are many of us who began scrapbooking as a creative outlet and don’t have children to use as the subjects of our creations. Sometimes it can be difficult for us to come up with different things to document on our layouts.
